Beth Simpson works with her clients to reduce pain and limitations in movement and promote general well being. She helps patients learn about their body, it’s movements and in doing so helps you to move more freely, carry less stress and be more capable.

The Feldenkrais Method, a somatic (body-related) system, aims to improve movement ability and capability by expanding and refining self awareness.

Feldenkrais helps people of all ages whose movement has been restricted by age, injury or illness. It allows people to move in a fluid, stable and free way. Patients with injuries such as whiplash, fractures, sprains and ligament tears, as well as those suffering with chronic or acute pain of the back, neck, shoulder, hip, legs or knee can benefit. It can also be beneficial for those recovering from surgery.

Beth works with clients one on one and regularly holds group classes to help her clients get in tune with their body’s movement. To learn more about the Feldenkrais method and what is can do for you please contact Beth Simpson for a Feldie session.

Testimonials

Dear Beth,
Well it has been 3 weeks now with little to no pain. Such a quick resolution to some pretty chronic pain is nothing short of amazing. Your insight gave me the knowledge and ability to change the way I move, sit, and in some ways, even think. You make it seem easy to find the problems and solutions to my issue and that is a testament to your depth of knowledge and ability to apply it to the individuals in your care. Thank you for making my days better.

Sincerely,
Terrie Cribbs, D.D.S.

You have such safe hands.
Heidi, Feldenkrais Practioner

What is the Feldenkrais Method?

Top ↑

image-02Does your back, knee, shoulder, big toe hurt? Do you have trouble focusing your attention? Have you stopped participating in activities you enjoy?

The Feldenkrais Method is for anyone who wants to reconnect with their natural abilities to move, think and feel. Whether you want to be more comfortable sitting at your computer, playing with your children, participating in sports, actively pursuing your career or performing a favorite pastime, these gentle lessons can improve your overall well being.

Learning to move with less effort makes daily life easier. Because the Feldenkrais Method focuses on the relationship between movement and thought, increased mental awareness and creativity accompany physical improvements. Everyone, from athletes and artists to administrators and attorneys, can benefit from the Feldenkrais Method.

We improve our well being when we learn to fully use ourselves. Our intelligence depends upon the opportunity we take to experience and learn on our own. This self learning leads to full, dynamic living.

How Does the Feldenkrais Method Differ from Massage and Chiropractic?

The similarity is that both practices touch people, but beyond that our Method is very different. In massage, the practitioner is working directly with the muscles, in chiropractic, with the bones. These are structural approaches that seek to affect change through changes in structure (muscles and spine). The Feldenkrais Method works with your ability to regulate and coordinate your movement; which means working with the nervous system. We refer to this as a functional approach wherein you can improve your use of self inclusive of whatever structural considerations are present.

I have been seeing Beth Simpson at Farragut Be Well since I participated in her classes at the Farragut YMCA. I felt better after each class, so I signed up for private sessions with her. I really like the Feldenkrais method so far. I am 60+ years old and am experiencing the accumulated aches, pains and loss of flexibility. I’ve taken up regular workouts I was still not getting the pain relief I was looking for. This program has been a big help so far. I am having to learn new ways to relax and let go of the tension. Beth is very patient and focuses each session on the specific problems that I am experiencing. If any of these problems are familiar to you, I recommend you consider her.

I had hurt my lower back (bulging disc) several years ago. I did have physical therapy and after several more months, the back finally went back into place, or so I thought. My left hip would hurt if I stood, or sat too long, or even to move it getting in and out of bed. I seemed to have lost the flexibility in my hips. But, I can tell you that I now have my swagger back. After just one Feldenkrais session with Beth, I was amazed at how my body had adapted itself from my previous injury. With just a few flexibility movements and stretches my hip stopped hurting. I am amazed at the gentleness of the session and how freeing it is when your body gets it’s swag back. Thanks Beth!
